Established in 1982, the RILS caries out extensive research in biotechnology.
It became the Research Institute of Life Science as it merged with cancer research center in September 2001. Research activities are focused on genomics, proteomics and cancer. In particular, it is contributing to local bioindustry through cooperative research with industry. RILS is equipped with advanced analytical devices and modern facilities including a specific pathogen-free animal facility, gene bank and a greenhouse.
