Worasan Mountain

Worasan Mountain, named for its shape of rising moon, is a favorite resting place for Jinju citizens.

Also called Daleumsan Mountain, Worasan Mountain was designated as an urban green park on March 6, 1986. Located 10 minutes from the town area, it is formed from many hills and has a beautiful small forest making it the favorite mountain for family hikers. It is only 482m high, and is thus perfect for half day courses.

The top of the mountain is known as Jangundae (482m). Jangundae has been the altar for the rain calling ceremony observed by the inhabitants of Geumsan, Munsan and Jinseong-myeon. Jangundae was also the military headquarters where General Kim Deokryeong defeated Japanese invaders using the wooden castle during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592.

Though there are Cheonryong-sa (Buddhist temple) on the eastern side and Dubang-sa on the south, Cheonggok-sa on the western side of the mountain is better known to people. Dense forests and tea plants are spread around these temples.
